Fröbel’s pedagogic achievements, which were revolutionary for his time, led to wide-reaching changes in the worldwide practice of early childhood education. Fröbel is counted among the classic educationalists and remains highly topical today.
In 2022, the themed year focuses on Fröbel in all his facets – as a friend of nature, father of the kindergarten concept, pedagogue, as a religious and political person, as a part of the modernity movement, an innovator for Germany and the world, and last, but not least, the inventor of the profession of early childhood teacher. Above all, emphasis will be placed on the future and the question: where has the Fröbel philosophy made a permanent home and where else can it play a special role?
