Today students continue to be taught following Fröbel's principles within the walls of the former "General Germal Education Institute" in Keilhau, which was founded by Friedrich Fröbel in 1816 in Griesheim and moved to Keilhau in 1817.
The complex is also home to the Fröbel Archive, which is administered by the New Thuringia Fröbel Association Keilhau (NTFV).
The Fröbel Archive Keilhau features:
The Fröbel School Museum
In the building where it "all began" in 1817, visitors can learn about the development of the Keilhau facility. In an authentic atmosphere, visitors can begin to understand what school in the past meant and what the differences are with current schooling techniques.
Fröbel's educational philosophy is also presented by way of an exhibition, which clearly explains the influence on today's practices that Fröbel's ideas continue to have.
Further informaton about the Fröbel Museum in Keilhau can be found on the NTFV website.
