Fröbel's first place of lodging in Bad Liebenstein in 1849 was an estate which today houses the Hotel Fröbelhof. It was here that Fröbel completed the plans and correspondence regarding the grounding of a training facility for kindergarten teachers in Marienthal Mansion in 1850. 

In the Hotel Fröbelhof, it is possible to “follow in Fröbel’s footsteps” by visiting a Fröbel Memorial Room and experiencing a specialised presentation about his life and achievements. A hiking tour to places of interest, memorials and educational facilities related to Fröbel in the region is also possible.
