On a sunny spring day in 1840, Friedrich Fröbel hiked form Keihau to Bad Blankenburg. As he gazed over the beautiful landscape of the charming Rinnetal that stretched out before him like a garden, Fröbel coined the sensory and fitting term for his early childhood education concept – kindergarten.
The beautiful view from “Frobel’s Vantage Point” over the entire Rinnetal and the middle Thuringia mountains can still be enjoyed today. The trail between Bad Blankenburg and the lookout also features display signs, outlining the work and life of this great educator. A column also showcases Fröbel’s famous “gifts” – the sphere, the cylinder and the cube.
A description on how to reach the lookout can be found on the Fröbel's Traces page.
